Exposure ALEX WORK

Exposure
aperture and the shutter speed

The aperture and the shutter speed work alongside each other so we can have a good exposure and control on the type of image we want, for example, a full in-depth image or only a specific section of the image and the rest is blurry, or if we want to catch a image that is moving but in a still motion, see examples below.

The light that enters the lens that is recorded on the sensor at each stop is always the same amount of the light entering but, only the exposure is changed, so we have control on the type of image we want to capture.

So if we change the shutter speed we must change the depth of field numbers e.g. the ‘f’ numbers.

Faster speed—freezing the motion

shutter and aperture speed

1) 1/60   f 9

2) 1/11   f 9

3)  1/10  f 5.6

4)

5) 1/100  f 9
FULL DEPTH
low shutter speed and higher f number than the one below

6) 1/200 f 5.6
SMALL DEPTH
higher shutter speed and lower ' f 'number than the one above

7) 1/4  f36

8) 1/8  f20

9) 1/160  f 5.6

10) 1/125  f 5.6

Adjective
Vibrant colours
Brush strokes
Seen as graffiti
Sad face of young teenager
Painting on a brick wall

Subjective
Eye catching
Colourful
Bold colours that contrast well
showing deep thoughts of a young teenager

It’s a good painting / picture as its eye catching and stays on the mind.  One wonders what the teenager was thinking of at the time that painting was done, what the painter was thinking, that innocent look on the teenager ‘s face.
What was the painter’s thought at the time?
Does it relate to his childhood life?

Analyzing the image Richards work

Analyzing the image

Adjectives
Innocent
Black and white
Eyes closed
Relaxed face
Freckles
Image is damaged or can be a scar
Light is exposed on the forehead and behind the face on the chin area.

Subjective
Relaxed is in a dream world
Freckles gives added beauty to the image, texture, tones and shades and makes it unique

There are clusters freckles surrounding the noise and check area on the innocent young female girl and seen as a beauty rather than not beauty as most youngsters try to hind them with make-up etc.
Due to the good lighting exposed on the forehead and behind the face therefore on the chin area makes the image stand out and unique.  It makes the face look as if its floating in space the light gives the face edges surrounding light and within the image noise tip and lips are dark, no light is reflecting on it

The image is from Sally Mann's work.

Cambodia Genocide took place in Cambodi between the years 1975 and 1979.
The genocide educed the entire population of Cambodia’s urban areas was evacuated from their homes and forced to march into rural areas to work the fields. Every man, woman, and child was forced into slave labour for 12-15 hours each day. An estimated two million people (21% of Cambodia’s population) were killed. Many of these victims were brutally executed; many more died of starvation, exhaustion, and disease.
